life spectrum

a single strand of light
falls broken.
on my hand, a million pieces.
and yet,
when i walk away,
its whole again.

the warmth i can sense,
it skims
so gently on my skin;
and yet,
when i draw away,
its cold again.

around me,
everything i see,
is real. or is it;

if its the light,
that makes it so?
tell me...
don't you know?

Life is a broken glass girl. It lets the light in, but when you try to escape from it, it hurts :) To withdraw from life may be safe but cold as you said.

It's nice to try to read into the layers of what you write. I might not interpret what you had in mind when you write but I think I get close. You could've been my alter ego in some lifetime :)

@tris: oh eerie! those were the exact same words i used while introducing your writing to a friend..
you write of things that ive lived through, which i write of, only differently
the slew of poems till 'out of sight out of mind?' uncanny resemblance they had
!

as for This one i didn't have any answers in mind, or theories and ideas, it was merely an observation, of the "intro-speculative" kind

loved your 'broken glass' interpretation :)

maybe 'the stronger you're bound to life, the more it hurts when you pull away'

what leaves me speechless, literally, is the way your imagery demands so much attention and even as your words are still painting the dream-like picture, you catch the reader (atleast me) unawares by directing your 'doubts' or 'questions' at the reader!

The light doesn't make it real. It just shows what you see in a... new light.

@ess *smiles at the atleast me
you haven't said how you'd answer my question?
dont you know? ;)

@poorni: thank you :) i <3 my music

@meandering mind: some do, once they reach that realisation
dont they?

@slash: you cant see without light now can you?
yes, you can "perceive" it in many other ways, but you cant 'see'(literally) without light

hence the last few words
everything i see,
is real. or is it;
if its the light,
that makes it so?

PS: loving this!

I've experienced that moment countless times. Reaching out towards light. To feel it. To sense it. To communicate.
And I had thoughts, in those moments. Subtle thoughts, intense thoughts.
But I could never articulate them as you just did.
