...

I am what you seek

when you stand, at that evening window;
On the empty, winding highway;
In the summer breeze and the winter days
and pressed between the drying flowers.

When silent dusk turns to black,
I am what you search for,
on the bench in a lonely park;
In fading ink and the flickering flame
and under raindrops on a tired day.

When you smile at the twined hands;
On the bench in a lonely park;
I am what you want,
in lilting song and whispered words;
and under dew laden boughs of the ancient tree.

I am what dances in dying light;
and what sleeps under heavy eyes.
I am what dwells in lingering gazes;
and what remains of fleeting life.

I am
realisation, forgiveness,
companionship and hurt;
I am nostalgia, acceptance
anticipation and fear;
I am inspiration, yearning,
love, despair and hope;

I am truth and time;
I am the journey in your mind.
I am the one without identity;
and everything, that you want me to be.

For me, it always used to be about what I wanted... been so occupied with it that I forgot my own freedom.

What you've written reminds me of all that I've been missing.

Meghana Naidu said...

@Zlaek: i think i myself needed reminding of all these things, and glad that it could do the same for someone else too.

you raise interesting questions,

"what i wanted" and "my own freedom"
If anyone else out there sees what i see in these two drop a line,
if not, i'll retreat to a quiet corner and contemplate in solitude

and Zlaek thank you for dropping by, i enjoyed your blog :)

It is wonderful how every line transports you to the situation accurately since it carries with it all the emotions that go behind such an experience.

In such a situation we are high on life(whether we realise it or not) and we cannot truly express what we feel till we have savored the experience completely.

And that's exactly what your words do here. Make us savor the emotions first and before we know it, you name every emotion for us with such elegance and ease.

You've written a few lines in an older post which I went through this evening...
And you're probably gonna have to retreat to a quiet corner and contemplate in solitude.

There was a slight drizzle outside my window... I listened to weak drops of rain nuzzling the earth... and read this wonderful little verse... And then I so badly wanted to reach out to someone... I so badly wanted the world to go from grey to gold...

You have the ability to kill someone with a feather...

Keep writing...

Meghana Naidu said...

@meandering mind
*sigh*
this poem is the amalgamation of a million of "grey to gold" moments
and each of them are brutal are'nt they.
*sigh*

and thank you, i will.

I'm putting this on my desktop wallpaper... It was extremely moving. It brought to life the dead romanticist in me.

Take my hat off to you for this one... like REALLY!
